About Us

Our Past
We fell in love with the Shetland Sheepdog breed shortly after we received our first sheltie; a very sweet sable girl from David & Sylvia Calderwood.  We were smitten! They say shelties are just like potato chips, you can never just have one - and how true that has been!

Our first show dog prospect was a beautiful bitch pup given to us by Gary Whitmore (Wynset Shelties) and it was the Calderwoods (Kensil Shelties) who have mentored me (Becca) in all aspects of the dog show world. So when it came time for us to pick a name for our own kennel, it seemed fitting to honor the two kennels that gave us our start - we are "Kenset Shelties".

Our Present
We are a small show hobby kennel located in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We have primarily focused our time and efforts in the conformation ring and agility thus far, though we have dabbled in a variety of performance venues including tracking, obedience and rally.

All of our dogs are house-dogs and are considered a part of our family. Regular activities, training, grooming and exercise are provided to keep their minds stimulated and their bodies fit and healthy. We firmly believe in testing breeding dogs for a variety of health conditions to ensure healthy pups. Our goal in breeding is to produce dogs that excel in health, sound temperament, brains & beauty. We have carefully planned litters only a couple of times each year. Companion pets are placed in approved homes on spay/neuter contracts.

We are active members of the Emerald Empire Shetland Sheepdog Club (EESSC), McKenzie Cascade Dog Fanciers (MCDF), and Dogs At Play Agility Club (DAPAC).

Our Future
As with most things in life, we will continue to learn and grow in our efforts to breed healthy, happy, intelligent and beautiful show dogs. We also have plans to invest more time and energy into some performance venues in the near future.
